A Celeron with a 7990? That's like...sticking a jet engine on a Cessna!

Well, if you haven't already seen my drama, I've had myself a nice little upgrade. I'm now rocking a pre-overclocked GTX 770 with three fans I can barely hear on 100% speed, and 8 gigs of much needed RAM.

My specs are now as follows:

i5 2500K @ 4.7 Ghz (no change)
8 GB DDR3 1600
GTX 770 1137 core, 1753 memory

Fans you can barely hear?

I got one that's pluged directly into the PSU (no other motherboard plug) so it's running at 100% all the time and makes my rig sound like an old video projector, but twice as loud

Well, okay, I can hear them, but compared to my previous card, it's nothing. These fans are larger, causing less noise with a slower turning speed for a given CFM, but also, because they are larger, the frequency of the noise is lower, meaning that for a given level of noise in dB, the lower frequency sound is less irritating and less noticeable.

RE: What's your rig?
I just built a new desktop rig!

http://imgur.com/a/CROXy

Parts:
NZXT H440 Case
ASUS Maximus VI Hero Motherboard
Intel i7-4770K CPU
EVGA Nvidia GTX 780
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB 1600
Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB SSD
Corsair HX750 PSU

It's primarily built for gaming, but ofc I'm going to be doing some folding with it. I'm currently testing out GPUGRID, and maybe PrimeGrid later. (thanks Sellyme)

And you never mentioned this before? Bitch, I would have been salivating at this sooner!

The only thing I would have changed is probably getting a cheaper mobo so that I could get what is, in my opinion, the best of the best PSUs: The platinum efficiency 1000W Seasonic.

Also, I only just realised that the SSD is 512 gigs. How much did that cost you? Actually, how much did the entire thing cost you?

I did mention this in IRC a few times, and got some very helpful suggestions. :P

The price breakdown is as such:
$200 ASUS maximus VI hero
$290 i7-4770K
$160 G.SKILL 16 GB ram
$510 EVGA 780
$420 Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB SSD
$115 old power supply - Corsair HX750
$120 NZXT H440
$35 Windows 8.1 pro
Total: $1860

I did get slight deals on the GPU and CPU, but other than that it's pretty much the standard US price. And yes I did pay for windows, although because my brother works at MS I got it cheap.
The monitor was $364.

The PSU I actually got last September, so when the Seasonic 1000W wasn't out yet. Also it's way more expensive.

Totally worth it if you are running 24/7 though! Plus, it has a seven year warranty on it!
