I must say, never underestimate the power of an extra fan and a bit of a tidy up. My GPU runs about 10*C cooler at load than before. Das crazy xD

Nothing special, a 7870 Tahiti LE.

Currently running it at 1150Mhz from 975Mhz at about 13*C lower than just at stock. As I played around with Undervolting the card.

RE: Folding@Home Terminology & FAQ
Think this the right spot to ask, is it better to run fewer CPU slots with more cores or more slots with fewer CPUs? I'd like to get the most out of my system.

Thanks for the time and assistance.

RE: Folding@Home Terminology & FAQ
SMP was designed to use multiple CPU cores in the most efficient way, I would recommend running one slot per CPU socket.

Been years since I've participated in this. Not since the demise of the PS3 client, I want to say. Kind of excited to get started again.

Awesome! Forums have been rather slow for the past year and a half. Mostly my fault for neglecting the place. Still, always great to have additional victims members.

What kind of weaponry are you packing in your case?

RE: F@H General Discussion
So I have this strange problem with my F@H client. It doesn't start with Windows, for one. On top of that, when I open the Folding@Home start menu link, it doesn't seem to actually start FAHClient.exe. Not only that, the web client is never able to connect to my computer. Manually opening FAHClient.exe and FAHControl.exe DOES work, however none of my settings are ever saved. I do get a 'Access is Denied' message every time I try to save my settings, but running FAHControl.exe as administrator doesn't help: config.xml can't be edited by the program.

This happens regardless of if it's installed on my boot drive or not.

I'd just uninstall everything, delete all FAH working directories and re-install again.

That's what I've done, yes. I deleted everything after uninstalling, then installed again. It's like FAH doesn't have permissions to modify any files or start on its own.

EDIT:
These are the errors I'm getting, by the by:

EDIT2: I feeex.

EDIT3: Okay, maybe I did not fix. Attempting to start FAH through the start menu shortcut does not work, but manually starting FAHClient.exe then FAHControl through the shortcut *does* work, but it didn't save anything. Fortunately now, it has permissions to save to config.xml, so hopefully next time my computer restarts, I'll be able to run it fine.
